Energy Talk at the Feuchtwangen Campus
With record attendance at Energy Talk, campus kicks off into 2023
For the fourth time, the Energy Talk took place at the Energy Campus of Ansbach University of Applied Sciences in Feuchtwangen. Every third Wednesday of the quarter, interested citizens and entrepreneurs have the opportunity to address their questions directly to the experts on site. Thus, campus director Prof. Dr.-Ing Johannes Jungwirth welcomed 40 visitors last Wednesday, January 18 at 7:00 pm. “You can tell I can’t stop grinning. It’s nice to welcome so many here.”
Afterwards, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Haresh Vaidya gave an overview of the basics of heat pump technology and the current state of the art: “We have noticed that there is a great deal of interest among the population. Especially against the current background, many people are thinking about replacing their heating system. However, there are a few things to keep in mind when doing so.” The professor of sustainable building technology and efficient buildings pointed out, among other things, the current limits of the technology: “In order to determine whether a heat pump can be operated efficiently for old buildings without panel heating systems and thus low flow temperatures, an extensive analysis by energy consultants* is required. The costs for this can be subsidized by up to 50% as part of a construction assistance program. This is a good investment to avoid expected follow-up costs. A renovation roadmap represents the first step towards energy-saving operation, even for older buildings, and is subsidized at 80%.”
Together with coordinator Dr. Gerd Hofmann, Christoph Matschi, Thomas Haupt, Oliver Abel and Kevin Settler, numerous other exciting questions about the use and operation of battery storage, photovoltaic and solar systems, thermal storage systems and many others were answered and discussed. The energy experts were partly surprised by the ingenuity and high self-motivation of individual visitors.
The next Energy Talk will take place on April 19, 2023 at 7:00 pm at the Feuchtwangen campus.
